All-inclusive resorts meet demand for local flavor.

The growing demand for authentic local experiences has reached the all-inclusive resort space, so owners and operators are including cultural elements in their design, F&B offerings and entertainment.

Guests are increasingly seeking out authentic experiences when they travel, pushing hoteliers to incorporate locality into their offerings. At all-inclusive resorts, where guests typically do not leave the property during their stay, that means bringing the outside in.

Guests want to see more nature around them, said Mandy Chomat, EVP of sales and marketing at Karisma Hotels & Resorts. Guests want more infusions of tropical trees, swinging hammocks with places to get away from it all, he said.

“People are coming to our part of the world looking to experience a more natural resort than the typical cookie-cutter, boxed-in resort,” Chomat said.

Resort design The first all-inclusive resorts were focused on experiences where guests could isolate themselves from the world, including the immediate surrounding area, said Daron Andrus, associate principal and SVP at HKS Hospitality Group.* It was all about the resort and focused on the pools and beach, he said.

Another element is the creation of a sense of intimacy and charm, although the all-inclusive resorts are typically large, Andrus said. At Dreams Las Marinas in Costa Rica, the existing trees were maintained and the pools were placed in the center, which made the area feel similar to a small boutique hotel.

My opinion

Well, first of all, increasingly more people are looking to spend all their time inside the resort. This is good for hotel entrepreneurs because it means a significant increase of income, but for the local people it is bad as they would not make money from tourism, which for them would mean decrease in their profits and their live worse.

Another thing that this text says is about the creation a snese of intimacy, well increasingly people looking for a suitable stay, it is true that resorts have a big facilities with best acommodations but maybe it is too big and complicated.
